Support Page
FAQs: These
are some of the more common technical support questions which are asked
of SomeHelp:
1) I've installed SomeHelp Once and
now I want to delete it and start again. How do I do that?
i) Delete somehelp.mde and somehelp_be.mdb from your computer(s).
ii) In Windows Explorer, go to the Windows folder on your PC(s) hard disk
and find the file somehelp.txt. Delete this.
iii) Now re-install SomeHelp from the original SomeHelp installation file
you downloaded.
2) I've been testing SomeHelp on
my own PC and now I'd like to go live on my network; so I want to delete
all the test calls I've entered but I want to keep all the codes I've
entered in the tables. How do I do that?
i) Delete somehelp.mde only from your computer(s).
ii) In Windows Explorer, go to the Windows folder on your PC(s) hard disk
and find the file somehelp.txt. Delete this.
iii) Now re-install the Client only for SomeHelp from the original SomeHelp
client installation file you downloaded.
(Note: If you want to start the Log No again at zero you can do this if
you know how to use Access. First delete all the Calls in SomeHelp, and
then open somehelp_be.mdb in Access and Compact the database).
3) I've tried re-installing SomeHelp
in a different location and when I run it I get the message "Upgrade
Successful" and/or "Not a valid path" and I can't use the
system after that.
In Windows Explorer, go to the Windows folder on your PC and
find the file somehelp.txt. Delete this. (This file simply tells SomeHelp
where the back-end database file is for future upgrades).
4) What is the Bug Correction Form
in v1.02?
When you upgrade from v1.0 to 1.02, it is possible that a bug in v1.0
meant that some Calls might have been saved without a Call Date. If this
is the case then certain functions in v1.02 will not work properly. We
have therefore provided a Bug Correction Function which will automatically
invoke if your database has any Calls with blank Call Dates. This will
run immediately after you logon and if there are any blank Calls in your
database then you will need to enter a Call Date for any Call with a blank
date.
Note: Because SomeHelp is
simply an Access database running under Access, there are no references
to it in Windows' registry.
Errors: These
are how to resolve a few key error messages:
1) 'Object Invalid or No Longer Set'
If you receive this error message then you will need to obtain the latest
Service Pack for the Microsoft Jet 4.0 Database Engine (which will update
the copy of Access on your PC). Click
here to visit the required Microsoft Download Page (Knowledge Base
Article number 239114).
2) 'CV3044 it appears the executable
on this PC is for a different version to the Somehelp database file'
This usually occurs if you are running SomeHelp on a network and the network
drive/mapping on which you installed the back end (somehelp_be.mdb) is
not visible/available, or has been re-mapped, or the somehelp_be.mdb file
has been moved.
This can happen, for
example, if different users/network logins have a different mapping/access
to the back-end folder. E.g. the initial SomeHelp Client install might
have pointed to F:\Apps\SomeHelp, but a second login may not have access
to that folder.
To resolve it, first check your mappings,
but if that does not work, then you can also try the following:
i) Look for somehelp.txt in the Windows
directory on your PC and if it exists, delete it.
ii) Delete somehelp.mde from the Client PC.
iii) Re-install the Client part of the installation on your PC. If you
don't have a copy of the original install file then download it again
from the SomeHelp web site.
iv) The first time you run SomeHelp after re-installing the Client, you
will be prompted to point the program to the back end (somehelp_be.mdb).
Known Issues:
This a list of the known issues in v1.1:
1) Performance when using Change
Tables on some tables only
When closing the Priority, Status and Problem Sub-Categories tables, when
editing the actual tables, the system can be slow to return to the previous
screen.
